Why I Love This Ricotta Dip
Ricotta cheese is one of those ingredients that doesn’t quite get the attention it deserves. It’s great in lasagna, stuffed shells, and cheesecake, but it never seems to get the spotlight it deserves with a dish that focuses wholly on it. This whipped ricotta dip recipe does just that!
The texture is beautifully light and airy, yet still rich in the way only ricotta can be. Lemon juice brightens everything up, and fresh thyme adds an herbal depth. Just before serving, it’s topped with a drizzle of olive oil and honey, some toasted walnuts, lemon zest, and a pinch of flaky salt. Each scoop with a warm baguette or crisp garden veggies makes it so hard to stop eating!
What I love most about it is how easy it is to prepare. In just about 10 minutes, you’ll have a blended dip that’s both simple and elevated.
What makes this dip special:
- Light and airy texture from the whipped ricotta
- The perfect mix of flavors, with bright lemon, fresh thyme, and a bit of sweetness from the honey
- Great make-ahead option for entertaining
- Super versatile: serve with veggies, crackers, crusty bread, or spread it on a sandwich!

Whipped Ricotta Dip Ingredients
A few simple ingredients come together to make this delicious, creamy dip.
- Ricotta cheese – The star of the show and a totally under-utilized ingredient! Whipping it in the food processor makes it smooth and fluffy.
- Olive oil – Use a good-quality olive oil for the best flavor.
- Honey – A bit of sweetness that balances the creaminess of the ricotta.
- Lemon juice and lemon zest – Adds brightness and a little tang.
- Thyme leaves – Perfect for a fresh, herbal note, both in the dip and sprinkled on top.
- Walnuts – Adds a perfectly satisfying crunch to complement the smoothness of the dip.
- Flaky sea salt – Finishes everything off with a hit of salt.
The full amount of each ingredient can be found in the recipe card below.

How to Make Whipped Ricotta Dip
There are just two steps to make this ricotta dip recipe.
Combine and blend – In a food processor or blender, combine the ricotta, olive oil, honey, lemon juice, and thyme leaves. Blend until smooth and fluffy, about 1-2 minutes, scraping down sides as needed.

Serve – Transfer to a serving dish and smooth with a spoon. Drizzle with more olive oil and honey, and sprinkle with lemon zest, thyme leaves, toasted walnuts, and flaky sea salt.

Serving & Storage
To serve: Serve this dip in a shallow bowl or plate so you can get those beautiful swirls on top. A drizzle of honey and olive oil adds a beautiful finish, and a sprinkle of flaky sea salt, fresh thyme leaves, and chopped walnuts added right before serving makes everything better.
Pair with crostini, sliced baguette, or vegetables like cucumbers and radishes for dipping.
To store: Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. As the dip sits, the flavors will get even better. Just give it a quick stir before serving again.
