Cool fall weather means unleashing warm cozy drinks to celebrate the season. This recipe features a latte, a cider, and a tea, giving a wide variety of toasty options. Each one brings an element of autumn that coordinates with the harvest season.
Place the apple cider, allspice berries, cinnamon stick, and sugar in a small saucepan and bring to a simmer on the stove. Let simmer for 5 minutes to release the spice flavors. Strain into a cup and garnish with an apple crisp (see next step)!
1 cup apple cider, 3 whole allspice berries, 1 2-inch piece cinnamon stick, 1 tsp granulated sugar
To make the apple crisps, slice one apple thinly (a mandolin works best for really thin slices). Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Sprinkle both sides with a little sugar and cinnamon and place in a 225°F oven for 45-60 minutes. Turn slices over and continue baking for an additional 45-60 minutes.
Let cool and you will have perfect apple chips to garnish this drink or enjoy as a snack!
For the Earl Grey steamer
Scald milk and add the teabag. Let steep for five minutes.
1 cup whole milk, 1 Earl Grey teabag
Remove teabag, squeezing out any excess tea into the milk.
Add flavored English toffee syrup for sweetness and flavor.
2 oz English toffee syrup flavoring (or vanilla flavor)
For the pumpkin latte
Heat and froth milk. Using a small at-home frother work great.
